Pantopet-40 Pantoprazole For Injection (40mg)

🧪 Composition

• Pantoprazole Sodium IP

• Equivalent to Pantoprazole 40 mg per vial

• Sterile powder for intravenous injection

⚙️ Mechanism of Action

🔬 Pantoprazole irreversibly inhibits the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, resulting in:

• 🔻 Reduced gastric acid secretion

• 🛡️ Protection of gastric mucosa

• 🩹 Faster healing of ulcers

💉 Dosage

🐕🐈 Dogs & Cats

• 1 mg/kg body weight, once daily

• Route: Intravenous (IV) only

• Administration: Slow IV injection or IV infusion

⏳ Duration: Short-term use or as directed by the veterinarian

🩺 Indications

Pantopet® IV Injection is indicated for:

• 🔥 Gastric & duodenal ulcers

• 🤮 Severe vomiting due to hyperacidity

• 🏥 Critical care & ICU patients

• 🧪 Pre- and post-operative gastric protection

• 🦠 Mast cell tumours (acid hypersecretion)

• 💊 Gastric protection during NSAID / steroid therapy

• 🚫 When oral therapy is not possible

📌 Directions for Use

• Reconstitute with sterile water for injection

• Administer slow IV only

• Use immediately after reconstitution

• Switch to oral Pantopet tablets once the pet stabilises

⚠️ Side Effects

✔️ Generally well tolerated

🚨 Rarely observed:

• Mild diarrhoea

• Transient injection site discomfort

❌ Use with caution in:

• Pregnant or lactating animals

• Severe liver disease
