Composition

• Metropet 250 mg Tablet:
  Each tablet contains Metronidazole IP 250 mg

• Metropet 500 mg Tablet:
  Each tablet contains Metronidazole IP 500 mg

Class

Antibiotic / Anti-Protozoal

Indications / Uses

• Gastrointestinal infections

• Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

• Anaerobic bacterial infections

• Ear infections

• Meningitis

• Giardiasis

• Amoebiasis

• Trichomoniasis

• Protozoal and mixed infections

• Used as part of combination therapy in Babesia infections

Dosage

Dogs:

• 10–60 mg/kg body weight, once or twice daily

• Babesia and mixed haemoprotozoan disease:
  15 mg/kg body weight for 10 days

Cats:

• 7.5–10 mg/kg body weight, twice daily

• Giardiasis:
  25 mg/kg body weight, twice daily for 5–7 days

Dosage should be strictly followed as prescribed by a veterinarian.

Directions for Use

• Administer orally with food

• Do not crush the tablet as it is extremely bitter

• Complete the full course as advised by the veterinarian

Side Effects

• Vomiting

• Excess salivation

• Weakness

• Tremors

• Loss of coordination (ataxia)

• Seizures (rare, usually with high dose or prolonged use)

Discontinue use and consult a veterinarian immediately if neurological signs are observed.
